These are horrible pictures I took really quickly with my phone. Here's our table! It's not done yet. Need to finish the top, but it's a heck of a lot nicer than the folding table we'd been using!

While we were gone...
Eric surprised me with a new sink! I was so tired when we got home that I actually didn't even notice it until he stood right next to it and tapped it. Yeeeeah. Awkward.
But look! This sink is deep enough to actually put dishes in!

Curb Appeal
We haven't even found a new front door and I'm already wondering what we can do to it to add some curb appeal. The front of our house is so sad and dejected looking. I'm having a hard time deciding on a front door color that will compliment the existing brick and shutters, so I may just do a stain-like technique. Isn't this front door beautiful?
Look how fun this house number sign is!

Desk Progress:
Being stripped
After first coat of stain:
After second coat of stain. It still needs a coat (or two) of polyurethane on top. Next up is stripping the sides of the desk. Once the body is finished we're going to move it into the house. Then I'll worry about the drawers! It'll just be nice to have it in the house.

Herringbone Wall Finished!
Can we just take a step back and look at it? It's not perfect. But I love it! I naively thought it would be a weekend project. Silly me. But I still think it was all worth it. And Grant said he likes it!

Herringbone Pattern
I'm still working on it! Oy vey, this wall is taking forever. It's not perfect. Taping the wall is really a 2 person job. Or at least a 1 person job with the right tools. Like a level tool. I tried my best with my measuring tape.

Bookshelf!
Our books are officially unpacked and moved onto their shelf. The kids books are on the other bookshelf, which I didn't take a picture of. After I get my desk cleaned up it'll have a home in between the two bookshelves. Yay! Ignore my nerdy little heart doing a happy dance.

Grant's bedroom
Grant's room is almost ready to move furniture in. The walls are painted, the fourth wall is being prepped for the painting experiment. His mattress is already in there, I've just been waiting for his bed frame to be moved over so I can clean it and get that all set up. Hopefully I'll have his wall done tonight!

Master bedroom
Started on the master bedroom yesterday! The wall on the left has two coats, the one on the right just has one.
The ah-mazing tools we found at Lowe's, it makes painting the trim and corners so much easier! Unless you accidentally break it. Which I'm not saying I did...but, I'm not denying it either.
The ceiling and trim painter and the corner painter.

Still cleaning.
Dad helped out again tonight! We wouldn't be nearly as far as we are without all his help. Pretty sure he's earned a lifetime supply of cigars.
Tonight we painted the baseboards, painted the computer room, pulled up the carpet padding, pulled up the staples, and then swept like nobody's business.
Grant's room, ready for carpet!
PC room:
Eric took down the awesome shelving so we can take down the wallpaper.
Water damage that we'll have to fix:
All that and I still haven't mopped the living room or vacuumed the family room. Tomorrow! Or maybe Saturday.

Where's Mr. Clean when you need him?
When we were just looking at the house I was so excited. I completely overlooked how dirty it had gotten while it was empty. Here's what most of the walls looked like close up. It took a good 1 1/2- 2 hours (for 2 rooms) to clean them before we could even paint! Good thing Dad came down to help today, I'm not sure how far I would've gotten without him!
Progress! Carpet has been taken out, walls are clean...ready to paint!
Here's after the first coat. I intentionally left this wall (mostly) blank. I'm going to try a fun herringbone pattern on it. I tried o explain it to Dad and Eric and they both just looked a little wild-eyed. No trust.

Ice Ice Baby
It's official, we have a fridge! It's nice and shiny and might just be the newest thing introduced to this house since the 70's.

Buying Our First Home
We're in the middle of allllll the paperwork!
We've ordered the appraisal and some paperwork has gone to underwriting. Can't lie, I'm starting to have nightmares that the roof will suddenly fly away or the floor will fall in. That's normal, right?
